a project by Border Crossings

Archive

The archive is supported by the Resources page – open to all – which provides background information about those communities represented in the archive. There are also glossaries of language used in the interviews.  For further information about the specific projects in which interviews were carried out, please visit the Origins page, where you will also find information about the festival.  Teachers and educators are directed to the Learning Centre where there are downloadable education packs on themes associated with the projects.

The archive was set up by Border Crossings in 2012.  It contains original recordings of interviews, transcriptions and images - currently 23 items, all oral history interviews (plus their associated images) from the Hidden Histories: Discovering Indigenous London (2015-2016) and London Maori Project (2011). The interviews cover topics concerning living in the UK, traditional practices, migration stories, family histories, participation in community events and other personal memories. The collection is catalogued by project.
